Heavy Defeat for Bassett at Trowbridge

Trowbridge Town were home to last season's champions Royal Wootton Bassett Town Development, who were still looking for their first point of the season. There was no improvement in that record though as Trowbridge ran out comfortable 5-0 winners.

Summer signing Ben Wickens set them on their way, firing into the bottom corner after being put through by Scott Baker.

Baker went from provider to scorer, heading in from point blank range to put his side 2-0 up.

The third Trowbridge goal came from an unlikely source, Ryan Baggs firing into the bottom corner of the net from 30-yards out giving the keeper no chance, with manager Jamie Jordan noting that it was the first goal Baggs had ever scored in senior football from open play, his previous goals having come from the penalty spot.

Ali Bradley added a fourth before Olly Dew completed the scoring, picking up a loose ball from a corner and slotting it into the net for Trowbridge's fifth and final goal of the game.

Combined with results elsewhere, it meant Trowbridge moved two points clear at the top of the table.
