08/01/06 - Hungerford Town 'A' (H)

Today Bassett entertained Hungerford Town who we managed to beat convincingly in the away fixture but I always felt that this score line flattered us hugely and that this was a dangerous side that were capable of making things very difficult for any opposing team. The game was end to end and finally balanced at half time with the score at 1-1, but it was always the home team who looked the most likely to come away with the three points and this is exactly what happened with the final score 3-2 to Bassett.

Before today′s match we spoke to the players in detail about getting back to the flowing football which we have always played in the past and this defiantly worked as today we passed the ball a lot better in the final third of the field and started to look more dangerous going forward whilst still looking solid at the back. The MOTM award was again very closely contested with Mitchell, Scott and Max all having fine games but this week the winner was Martin who was a rock at the back and also weighed in with his first goal of the season.
