Excellent win at Rylands Way

The conditions were perfect again today for our league match against Greenmeadow which was played at Rylands Way.

An early goal from Josh in the second minute got us off to the perfect start after Scott and Alex had combined well to produce the chance from a well worked corner. This early lead helped to settle Bassett and before long we started to play some good passing football which resulted in more chances for Reuben, Tom and Josh before Scott finally added the second after a neat one-two with Alex, this sent us into half time looking comfortable and well on top of the game.

Straight from the restart we went in search of the third and again it came early in the half when Tom latched onto a good cross from Alex to score his second goal in consecutive weeks. Bassett should now have gone on to win the game by a far higher margin but we seemed to lack the killer touch in front of goal today and Greenmeadow are the sort of team who will always make the opposition work hard for everything. This meant that the game petered out and a 3-0 victory was probably the best we could have hoped for.

Another win and another three points which keeps us in touch with the leaders but today we should have scored more goals and really made our dominance show and I felt we let Greenmeadow of the hook a little bit. But on the positive side we played some good football at times with a number of players having a good game, Scott, Tom and Alex were all in the running for the MOTM award but today it goes to Mitchell who held the defence together well and always played the simple ball which started a lot of our best attacking moves.
