A shock to everyone as Bassett lose for the first time

This week we were away to White Horse Juniors, with a 6-4 win at home last time we knew we were in for a tough game.

The game started with both sides battling hard, it was a tight game but Bassett Bullets were certainly attacking more than White Horse. We had four or five good chances to score but never finding the net, their keeper was managing to keep everything out and was having a blinder. At the half time break the score was 0-0 and our boys were looking tired, with NO outfield substitutes available it was going to be a long and difficult half ahead, I know was asking a lot from the boys.

The second half started just as the first half ended, the bullets still managing to control the game, just, this was until White Horse Juniors had a quick break down the line then cut inside and BANG!! 1-0 to them. This was totally new territory for us 1-0 down and only 10 mins to play. I tried to keep the boys motivated but their heads were dropping rapidly and with White Horse bringing on Sub after Sub Bassett started to get tired.

My fear was about to come true with White Horse scoring another goal and 2 minutes later another one went in, I felt for the boys and just wanted the final whistle to sound. Then DISASTER the ball came across into our box, Thomas trying to defend it stuck out a foot and bang 4-0 to White Horse and an own goal, could it get any worse.

WE DIDN′T DERSERVE THIS.

They managed to finally get one more in stoppage time making the score 5-0 to White Horse Juniors. This was very hard to swallow not only for the boys but the parents as well. Take nothing away from White Horse they played well, especially their goal keeper who was man of the match in my book. As for our boys we must pick ourselves up from this and get ready for the next game against Blunsdon Colts who will also be tough opponents.

Let′s hope we don′t taste defeat for a while again!!

Well done boys, keep your heads up!!
