Another close game for the Under 7's

ANOTHER CLOSE GAME FOR 'BASSETT'!!

Well after the shock game against Blunsdon colts we needed to get back to form and play the football we know we can. The ground was hard after a heavy night′s frost but that didn′t put anyone off including the Purton manager.

The game started well with both teams passing and moving into space, the breakthrough came when Jack B. pick up the ball in midfield passed it to Scott who passed it straight back to Jack and a first time shot from Jack gave the bullets their first goal. Great!!

It was a very competitive half with both teams breaking quickly from there defence and having great opportunities to score, neither team managed to convert their chances and the score stayed 1-0 to Bassett at the interval.

The second half started very fast with the midfield having most of the play, a great battle was developing with tackles flying in everywhere, a few fouls were committed but both sides had total respect for each other (shaking hands and saying sorry after fouls etc). Then another goal came for Bassett scored by Jack B. again, immediately after the restart Scott managed to score his first and Bassett′s 3rd, with a great run down the wing by Jack B. beating most of the Purton players and delivering a superb cross in the box enabling Scott to show off some of his talent by flicking the ball in the net, giving the Purton keeper no chance, a brilliant goal to watch and definitely the goal of the season so far, this made the score 3-0 to Bassett with 10 mins left to play.

We started getting tired at this stage of the match and mistakes were happening a silly mistake in a vulnerable position gave Purton the ball in which they took great advantage by unleashing a powerful shot on the edge of the Bassett box, this caught Jack H. off guard and giving Purton their first goal, 3-1 with 5 mins left, great game, we won a free kick on the edge of the Purton box and while the Purton boys were organising themselves Jack B. took advantage of their slow organisation and hit the back off the net with a cracking shot, great goal!! 4-1 Bassett.

2 mins left to play Scott got the ball in the Purton box, beat 2 players and smacked the ball pass the keeper, that was it 5-1 to Basset. A very enjoyable game, good performance from everyone on a very cold day, well done lads!!

Goals from Jack Blow x3 & Scott Twine x2. NEXT GAME: 8th January AT RYLANDS WAY

Merry Christmas to everyone and Happy New Year!

A big Thank you to Steve Twine for refereeing.
