Win but team need to stop conceding cheap goals

This game could have gone either way, with playing conditions very difficult with surface water and severe muddy areas through the middle of the pitch especially in the goalmouths. The game kicked off with Westbrook having possession and immediately attacked the Bassett end catch the Bassett defence knapping. It was only a last ditch tackle that saved the Bassett embarrassment of going 1-0 down in the opening seconds. Bassett took that as a wake up call and started to move the ball up-field into Westbrooks half moving the ball around with some difficulty but managing to keep the majority of possession. It took a few minutes before Bassett broke the deadlock with a good strike on the edge of the box from a cross field pass landing at the foot of Seb who drove the ball low and hard and into the Westbrook goal giving the goalkeeper no chance to save it. The second goal for Bassett came from a good cross ball into the Westbrook goalmouth with which was neatly headed by Josh Shama into the opposing net again giving the goalkeeper no chance and that's how it stayed until halftime. Bassett 2-0 up.

The second half was a bit more one sided with Bassett again having most of the possession, except for the opening minute when Westbrook scored when we were once again sleeping which must be addressed during the team talks. As the game went on, Bassett became more comfortable on the ball and moved the ball around which enabled us to create better scoring opportunities from which Jack Brain took his chance from the edge of the box giving the goalkeeper no chance as it thundered passed him and into the net behind. Bassett 3-1 up. The last goal came from a good strike from Tom O'Donnell who scored from a goalmouth scramble in very boggy conditions. Credit must go to the Westbrook goalkeeper who made some very good saves and kept Westbrook in the game until about the last 10 mins or so when Bassett scored their 3rd of the game. Bassett however must do better in the beginning of the halves as to not give cheap goals away, especially with the competitive games that are in front of us with the run in to the championship only a few games away. Well done lads, bit more concentration next game.
