Hard fought win for Bassett Under 10's

The match today was a mind game after last weeks defeat in the Cup where we went out in a penalty shoot out. We knew Blunsdon were a very strong outfit from the start and what we have been hearing. The game was 20 mins strong with either team battling it out in the midfield with the likes of Josh, Neil and Jack having to work harder than usual. The deadlock was broken when Neil found Tom with a great through ball who then bundled past 3 players and shot and the ball was going wide when Grant seemed to be sliding for ages and connected with the ball to send it home for Bassett to go on one up in this tight contest.

In the 2nd half the defence was worked harder with Cole and Harry having to be on form to keep out the opposition and with Grant stopping the ball from going over the line to bring the score level. Ryan played up front for a while creating a couple of chances but came more alive when switched out onto the wing either on left or right he laid some good balls off and and good crosses for the team. Ellis was there and made a save but generally did not have much to do, the second goal came by some good passing through the team and finally the ball arrived at Tom's feet and when the goal keeper came out to meet him, Tom coolly lobbed him and saw the ball bounce into an empty net. Blunsdon played well and did not give up but it was a good battle to the end so well done Blunsdon and finally big well done to Bassett.
