A good clean game against Highworth Town

Over the past couple of days we saw the weather go from mild to sleet, but the weather held out for us to win 5 - 2.The home team started off strong from the whistle and after a few minutes the Highworth goal came under attack.

The first goal came by a Jack Brain shot, which was a stunning lob from 20 yards into the top corner leaving the Highworth keeper no chance.

Bassett continued to press home the advantage of this goal and quickly and not surprisingly found themselves 2 up via a Nick Buckle goal laid on by Ryan Amos.

Highworth Battled back and scored when the defence could not clear the ball near our area and the ball sneaked in from the near side post.

Bassett continued to play the ball around the park with the likes of Seb (MOTM), Nick ,Jack and Josh maintaining the Highworth attacks to very little at times.

Ellis played very well in goal via the balls he picked up in the area and the way he used his vocals to the defence.

We needed a goal by half time and it came via Nick Buckle again, where the ball was played around the area with a shot from Nick, the keeper saved well but again Nick pounced with his other foot and scored leaving the half time result 3-1 to Bassett.

2nd half started when Neil Little came on and with his first touch set the ball up for himself and coolly pinged the ball into the net with the goalkeeper diving to no avail.

Highworth had 2 free kicks which was taken from Jack Peddar the first went over but his next freekick flew in to the goal and no keeper would have stopped that one. Also Bassett were lucky not to concede another goal where Eliis came out to block their attack ,but they went past him and hit the ball seemingly going into an empty net but Chopper Hazzard came from nowhere to slide in and clear the ball around the post for a corner to Highworth.

Thanks to a good move from Cole Embling's pass wide on the left, switched over to the right in turn crossed over to leave the goalkeeper flapping and Ryan Amos pounced and scored to make it 5 - 2 ,

Overall Bassett played well, and Highworth as usual kept going and their keeper played well ,well done to both teams for a good clean game.
