Bassett bounce back in style

After the previous weeks unexpected defeat to Greenmeadow we were looking at our players to see how they would respond ? And responded they did with a convincing 6-0 win. After a long chat with the players on the Friday night and Saturday morning the team did them selves proud.

The game kicked off in usual fashion with Bassett controlling the play but nothing to show for it and at times with the away team doing good 1 touch football it was a good game for the neutral to watch , then chopper cleared the ball out of defence with a non nonsense kick, it came to Tom who control it and took off down the wing in the meantime josh sprinted into the box ,Tom crossed it and Josh bundled the ball home un-opposed to make it 1 - 0 to Bassett, just before half time Tom received the ball and once again un opposed he rounded the goalkeeper and slotted home another goal to take Bassett into half time 2 -0 up.

Another chat saw the boys step up another gear and within 5 mins we saw a great finish by Seb (MOTM) who took up the ball just inside their half, he ran between the players and Bang! did that ball fly into the net or what, Seb deserved the goal its been coming for a few weeks now. if that was a special goal for Seb Jack does what Jack does best by waiting on the edge of the area for a loose ball and sure enough it came via a deflected shot from Seb ,the ball came out to him bouncing and smack , before you knew it , ball top corner 4-0 to Bassett, this is more like it.

As always we can mention all the players but it is all about team effort and commitment and it shows that , just because a few score the goals it is the rest of the team who supply's the balls to make the others score to make Bassett who they are, so well done to the team of the Embling twins, Fraser ,Grant , Chopper, Neil, Josh, Ryan ,Jack, Seb, Nick and Tom .

Anyway 4-0 nil up and its not finished by a long way, the team kept pressing and what a goal by Tom, the ball was going out but Seb ran, no he sprinted to the line stopped the ball from going out, ran down the line then all of a sudden he crossed it the edge of the area and what a volley, Tom top corner from 15 yards no keeper was going to stop that one, now we are cruising 5 -0 up and the ball came across the goal from Seb who was on the wing it went through everybody and there was Ryan waiting in anticipation and slotted the ball home to make the score line read 6 -0 .

The squad rotation is working well, all the kids understand the reasons behind this, as we are getting ready for next season when we go to 11 aside, so for those who doubt this pls respect our decisions and let the results speak for itself.
