Blues return to winning ways

Royal Wootton Bassett Town Under 12 Blue returned to winning ways with a 5-1 at home against Swindon Supermarine.

Supermarine started well putting the Bassett backline under pressure, but with Jake Webster marshalling the defence well in front of Tom Davis Supermarine the visitors were kept to a few half chances.

Samuel Smith grew into the game and started to take control of the midfield. A nice pass from Samuel picked out Cameron Iles whse nice flick on was finished by Thomas Nicholls with a nice lob over the keeper. Bassett then hit the post from Thomas Nicholls with the Supermarine keeper in no man's land. Finlay Hyde was next to test the woodwork with a free kick coming back off the bar.

Bassett were made to pay for not being able to clear a corner as the smallest player on the pitch headed Swindon level from two yards out.

Thomas Nicholls put Bassett back in front with a long range effort just before half time.

In the second half Bassett scored three more times, first with Jamie Black playing as a makeshift forward and smashing home from close range after good work from Finlay and Samuel.

Finlay added the fourth from the penalty spot after Thomas was fouled in the box. The fifth was added late on with a stunning long range hit from Joshua Sturmey leaving the keeper no chance.

At the back Matthew Jones along side Jake Webster were solid giving nothing away.

Bassett ran out well-deserved 5-1 winners.
