Gr-eight performance sees Blues through in Cup

The boys travelled to Lydiard Park to play in the first round of the North Wilts League Cup against FC Abbey Meads Rangers. Bassett took an early lead through Caden Jefferies with a finish from outside the box, and the second was a well worked move from back to front finished of by Thomas Nicholas.

Caden added a third, firing into the roof of the net from the edge of the box. A nice give and go between Jake Webster and Cameron Iles had Jake running in behind the Abbey Meads' backline and he slotted home, meaning Bassett went into half time 4-0 up.

Two more goals came from corners. Finlay Hyde's first saw Jamie Black smash home his second goal of the season, and then Samuel Smith tapped home from close range for Bassett's sixth.

Tom Davis, playing the second half on pitch, won the ball from the Abbey Meads left back before crossing for Finlay Hyde to tap in a goal his performance deserved. Samuel Smith finished the scoring with some quick footwork and a nice finish.

With some good performances all over the pitch Player of the Match goes to Joshua Sturmey for his high energy and clever passing.
