Second defeat for Under 12 Blues

Royal Wootton Bassett Town Under 12 Blue lost their second successive league match despite taking an early lead away to Robins White.
Following the heartbreak of conceding a late winner to Ferndale in last weekend's home encounter, Wootton Bassett Blues were keen to bounce back at Commonweal School. They nearly got off to the best possible start after a long range Ed Greenouff strike was parried by the keeper. Thomas Nicholas was first to react only to see his shot agonisingly rebound off the inside of the post.
Wootton Bassett continued their positive start with a goal, after great work down the left Joshua Sturmey hit an inch perfect cross from which Thomas Nicholas made no mistake slotting home in the bottom corner.
Unfortunately for Wootton Bassett the lead was short-lived. Failure to clear a Robins attack led to a bundled equaliser. Further disappointment was to come, following a thunderous Ed Greenouff volley as Robins countered and Tom Davies was unable to stop a low shot giving them the lead.
Manager Martin Jefferies urged his team to be more resolute in their tackles at half time but Wootton Bassett struggled to gain the upper hand in an even second half. Captain Sam Smith did his best to urge his team forward and Cameron Iles tested the keeper from range.
Not for the first time this season keeper Tom Davies kept his team in the match with a series of smart stops allowing Thomas Nicholas the chance to equalise with a powerful header which narrowly missed.
The decisive goal came minutes from the end when a loose ball was lobbed over Tom Davies head to leave Wotton Bassett with too much to do in the final minutes.
Man of the Match was Wootton Bassett keeper Tom Davies who thoroughly deserved his award for another heroic performance.
