Westbury Utd Res under new management take the points

There was an entertaining game at the Gerard Buxton Ground where Westbury United Reserves, under the management of David Jenkins for the first time, were the visitors. In a frantic opening five minutes both sides found the net. Saul Johnson fired Westbury in front within a couple of minutes of the start. Almost immediately after the restart Royal Wootton Bassett Town Development got back on level terms when George Staten netted. Westbury United went back in front when Bassett keeper Ross Milloy allowed a powerful 25-yard free kick from Derek Wheeler to slip through his hands and into the net to restore Westbury's lead. On 28 minutes Royal Wootton Bassett Town Development had shouts for a penalty denied when the impressive Staten appeared to be up-ended in the box. The home side's Bailey Gallagher was then twice denied by excellent saves from the Westbury keeper. Milloy in the Bassett goal was also called into action preventing the visitors going further in front on 40 minutes. The home side then went straight down the other end and Staten scored his second of the game with a neat header following good set up play to leave it 2-2 at the break. The second half continued with the end to end action and it was a case of the side that took their chances that settled matters in Westbury's favour. A stunning strike from the edge of the box from Matty Mead on 70 minutes put Westbury back in front and the strong and fast Saul Johnson then finally secured the three points with his second of the game to make it 4-2 to Westbury and give David Jenkins a winning start to his Westbury managerial career.
