Trowbridge Town is known to be a strong team and Wootton Bassett had its work cut out from the start. The Trowbridge Town girls were able to pass and used their power to score 12 minutes into the game from a corner. Then despite all the Bassett girls being individually tenacious on the ball, when they got it, they appeared not to have the same team cohesion and their moves did not flow, as in previous games. Trowbridge Town managed to intercept a lot of the play. Despite the great defence work of Aimee Menzies and Felicity Talbot as backs and Shannon Furey in goal, a strong cross gave Trowbridge Town another goal 16 minutes into the game. Trowbridge Town kept good possession of the ball and scored 4 minutes later with another powerful shot.

The second half showed Trowbridge Town stepping up their skills and they scored in the first minute. They then managed again in the 8th minute to score. Wootton Bassett did have occasions to push up but despite getting the ball past the halfway line, they did not result in any goals. Trowbridge Town scored robustly in the 28th minute and then again one minute later and finally just before the whistle blew, in injury time, they scored their last goal. The Bassett team did encounter injuries in the middle of the second half and unlike Vicky Rawlings, who bounced like the ball when down, Aimee Menzies had to come off. Shannon was suffering from injury but her saves kept many of the goal attempts out, although unfortunately some shots were too well-aimed. It did seem that the energetic zeal to possess the ball had waned and the midfield heart of team appeared to be suffering from an irregular heartbeat, even with injections of runs from defence. The general feeling in the team was that although this match may have 'gone to pieces' the team must put this one behind them and concentrate on the the remaining matches to come.
