Bassett do double over Swindon Town Blues

WBTFC start well with the first attack of the game forcing an early corner. Continued pressure persisted from the squad with an eventual break from Rebecca to Julia finishing in a run and powerful shot by Julia from a tight angle to score the opening goal of the game.

The squad continue to dominate with a pass from Molly putting Julia through on goal. Although she seems to over-run the ball, it trickles past the home goalie to give the 2nd goal for WBTFC midway through the first half.

Swindon Blues start to get back in the game with both sides forcing attacks. Some good defending and forward runs by Felicity followed by an excellent reflex save by stand in goalie Gabby. WBTFC finish the half well with Aimee holding firm at the back as the physical approach from the home team is resisted. The first half ends with the 2-0 lead intact.

Wootton Bassett make changes for the second half with Rebecca going in goal and Gabby moving into defence alongside Felicity.

We continue to dominate with a number of corners, but only creating half chances and speculative shots from Julia, Amy and Molly.

Very good work from Molly in midfield and Gabby at the back as Swindon Blues try to force their way back into the game. Only one real chance for Swindon as Rebecca unluckily handles the ball just outside the area. The resulting free kick is curled just wide.

WBTFC start to mount attacks as the game draws to a close. A strong shot from Amy is saved by the goalie, but Julia is on hand to bundle in the rebound to score her hat trick in the closing minutes.

Player of the match – Molly Peake

A good performance from WBTFC ends in a well deserved victory. Another good team performance with all 8 girls making important contributions.
