Bassett lose opener against Trowbridge Town

In their first game of the season Wootton Bassett U10 girls faced Trowbridge Town at their ground at Woodmarsh.

The squad includes some old faces/same faces and new faces for this coming season. Millie, Freya and Aimee were out to play their very 1st club league game. Felicity, Julia, Rebecca remain in the squad for this season and Ellie, Evie and Gabby join us as newcomers.

Trowbridge got the first goal scoring after just 6 minutes. Our defence made some excellent tackles during the first half with both Felicity and Julia providing some really solid defensive play. WBTFC had a couple of opportunities to get close to the goal in the middle of the first half which was followed by an excellent save by Ellie our goalkeeper just before the half time whistle. The half time score was 2-0 to Trowbridge.

In the second half Julia scored an excellent goal in the first 10 minutes, this taken from a pass from Felicity on the half way line. Trowbridge then scored their third goal after hesitation in our defence and they continued to score 2 more winning the match 5-1.

All the girls put in a really determined effort which despite this loss is encouraging for the season ahead.

Match Player (nominated by a parent): Gabby for her hard work supporting Felicity at the back.
