Narrow win over Wroughton built on strong defence

Bassett had their return game playing away to Wroughton, coming away with a hard fought, lucky 2 - 0 win. Credit to Wroughton I feel they should have at least drawn with Bassett. Wroughton fought hard, never gave up by challenging every ball.

Bassetts defence, Scott Walduck and Oliver Rigby played their socks off keeping Wroughtons forwards at bay, at times getting caught out at the back, especially in the second half. Joe Paish kept his eye on the ball doing some tremendous saves as always.

Midfielders, Tyler Amos, Jake Matthews and Ben Mattick had their work cut out, as a lot of the play was in the middle, and there wasn't the usual challenging of the ball going on. As well as hard, it was a very physical game. Scott Walduck scored a crucial goal following the ball in from a well struck corner by Tyler Amos and a second goal came from a promising build up from the middle bringing our forward Sam Lowkis onto the ball putting it out wide to Ben Mattick who in turn crossed it over, and a bit like pinball, hit everones legs before Jake put it in the net.

Overall Bassett didn't play their best and Wroughton were really up for the game. Pleasing result but very lucky!
