First ever win against Wroughton

Wootton Bassett U8's had their 7th game of the season playing at home against Wroughton. This was going to be a difficult game for us as we've never beaten them losing twice to them in tournaments over the summer period. Bassett started of well in the first half with some good passing and confident tackling going in throughout the half. The defence of Sam Lowkis and Oliver Rigby played well with Joe Paish having a good game in goal. With credit to Wroughton they gave us a hard game and were strong in midfield and up front, putting our defence and keeper under a lot of pressure. Our midfield of Jake Matthews, Tyler Amos and Ben Mattick linked up well with each other, having some good vision of the game and putting a few quality passes together between them. Scott Walduck playing up front was always running and tackling throughout the first half. Bassett were 2-0 up by half time with Tyler Amos scoring one and Ben Mattick getting the second. The second half Scott came off and Nathen Tearle came on, playing up front who also put some good passes together. Soon into the second half Wroughton scored a quick goal with our defence going to to sleep for a short while, making it 2-1. Bassett got another soon afterwards with Jake Matthews scoring making it 3-1. The majority of the second half Bassett had the upper hand and were on the attack most of the half, by full time the score was 5-1 to Bassett. Ben Mattick scoring the other two goals which resulted from good build up and good passing throughout the team. This was a good result for Bassett and all the lads deserved their win, well done to the whole team
