This was a match that the team went into with some confidence following recent results and performances. We spoke before the game about the need to win our personal battles against our opponents and to have 100% commitment to 50-50 challenges. It was hoped that once we began to do this then we would be able to play the football we know we can play.

This was the case and we dominated the first half for long periods of time and created several good scoring opportunities before we finally broke the deadlock after 21 minutes when Karl Roberts was put through for a one against one which he coolly slipped past the goalkeeper. A couple of minutes later, Bradley Bancroft scored with powerful drive from within the penalty following some good work from Gavin Brown.

It was good see a variety of distribution from the goalkeeper, Jack Deane, to outfield players which allowed the team to turn defence into attack swiftly and put the opposition on back foot.

Ashton Keynes came back into the game more in the second half and pulled a goal back before Bassett up the pressure and were rewarded with another 2 goals in quick succession when Sam Davies scored a poachers from within the 6 yard box followed by Gavin Brown who scored a great individual goal scoring in the far corner after beating a couple of Ashton Keynes defenders.

Well done – it was good see some football with the ball on the ground coupled with good passing and movement.
