WBTFC Scorers:
A Cressey, Own Goal
A game which Bassett started brightly and took the game to Marlborough. Bassett created several chances before Aiden Cressey scored with lob from from about 25 yeards following a long clearance from Sam Davies. However, all the good work work was undone a few minutes when Bassett scored an own goal.
Bassett re-took the lead just afterwards when a Gavin Brown shot hit the post only to be put in the Marlborough net by a Marlborough defender. Unfortunately, more sloppy defending cost Bassett 2 more goals before the end of the first half so at half time the score was 3-2 to Marlborough although Bassett had played the better football.
Unfortunately, the second half display was poor from Bassett. Too many players shied out of the basics such as heading and tackling allow Marlborough to eventually score 2 more goals.
Disappointing as this was a game we should have won.
