Best performance of the season to date

In some atrocious weather Bassett put in possibly their best performance of the season. Carrying on from the confidence gained last week, they started at a fast pace creating chances and causing Old Town some real problems. The home team had the (considerable) wind at their backs and capitalised with two quick goals. Bassett responded in great style with a magnificent solo effort from Ryan Campbell making the score 2-1. Old Town were awarded a penalty that was well taken, leaving Bassett feeling a little weary, something that was pounced on leading to another goal.

Bassett started the second half a little slow, leading to another goal from Old Town. The boys then turned on the style and the game became real end to end stuff. Direct, skilful and quick touch football created a chance for Aiden Cressey that was volleyed home leaving the keeper with no chance. After Old Town scored again Bassett replied with the best goal of the day. Slick passing football ended with a magnificent cross from Gavin Brown on the left that found Aiden unmarked in the box, he scored his second goal with a strong attacking header. Old Town proved too strong at times and they managed to take a couple more chances but Bassett had the final word with a shot from Gavin that drove into the top of the net.

Man of the Match went to Scott Millward for an outstanding performance in midfield and defence.
