A disappointing start to the season saw Bassett U13 go down at Malmesbury 7-2. On a pitch that would have benefited from a cut, Bassett played the first half into the teeth of a gale force wind. A good defensive effort meant that despite playing most of the game in our own half we managed to restrict the score to a level where a good second half performance would see Bassett gain a win.

A slow start to the second half allowed Malmesbury to quickly take control of the game with some good passing football. Bassett's normal quick passing game only made brief appearances resulting in a well taken goal by Andy McCabe and a blistering 30 yard strike by Ryan Dowse.
