Big defeat after long break

Their first game in 6 weeks saw Bassett away to the formidable Highworth Juniors. Playing against the wind and slope the boys made a strong start, playing some neat football and creating some good chances. The opposition, being physically bigger and stronger, started to exert some pressure and Bassett found themselves a couple of goals down. The home team continued to push but were frustrated by some sturdy defending from the whole Bassett team. Fatigue finally started to show in the legs and in the last couple of minutes Bassett conceded two quick goals.

The second half began with Highworth showing some real class with quick passing football. The effort level from Bassett never dropped and the continued to put some good moves together but eventually the effect of chasing the game began to show and the Bassett goal came under more and more pressure. Jack Deane was immense in goal and pulled off a string off stops and saves, including a penalty. His performance kept the final score in single figures and drew many compliments from the opposition management and supporters. He was deservedly Man of the Match.
