Karl shines on his debut with hattrick

A fantastic debut by Karl Roberts led Bassett to their best result in the league this season. Bassett were unlucky not to take more than a draw from this exciting end to end match. Both teams were evenly matched but Bassett made the better start with some excellent passing football resulting in two quick goals from Karl. Greenmeadow never gave up and the fast centre forwards soon put them back on equal terms. With minutes to go before halftime some sloppy defending allowed the home team to end the half with the advantage.

Bassett started the second half brightly with Karl scoring his hattrick. A well taken goal from Aiden Cressey meant that Bassett were in front once again. True to the pattern of the game Greenmeadow fought back and reversed the lead with two goals. Despite constant attacks on both goals the score remained 5-4 until a free kick deep into injury time saw Bassett through everyone forward. Dan Jones put a glorious cross into the box that found Chris Sims waiting to smash home the equaliser. A great team effort with every player giving everything they had.
