Bassett a different side this week

I′m sure this was a different team to the one that turned out against the Robins, on Saturday? The passing and the crossing was great. I must say I thought we played well in the formation where we had two at the back with a midfielder sat in the middle of the park.

From the off Bassett were the stronger team with passing going to feet and Bassett fighting to every ball. Within the first two minutes Ben made the right wing his own and played several crosses in with ease. However we could not convert them into goals. Callum made some space just outside the box and cracked in a shot, which was saved. It was looking good for Bassett. Then Croft broke and managed to cross the ball behind the Bassett defenders, Joe seeing the danger, came off his line and cleared the ball with his feet. Bassett then countered attacked through Sam, Tyler and Ben down the middle and right hand side, mean while Callum was hurtling down the left where he received a pass from Tyler and cracked the ball into the back of the Croft net. Bassett were now one up. Each time Croft attempted to place pressure on Bassett′s defence both Scott and Jack dealt with every attack, OK there was a couple of scary moments. Bassett spent most of the first half camped in the Croft half, passing the ball around and playing the one two′s, it was a pleasure to watch. Again Ben placed pressure on the Croft defenders and forced a corner. Sam took the corner which Tyler headed into the back of the net, Bassett were looking strong now and looked like they would take the victory.

The second half was very much the same with Joe not seeing the ball that much. Josh was now playing up front and laid off a great ball to Ben who had a go for goal, which was pushed around the post for the corner. Ben found some space down the right and cross the ball to Callum, Callum had a shot at goal which was saved. Croft now were hitting the long ball over the top, but Scott and Oliver dealt with this very well trapping the ball then passing it to Bassett′s forwards. Croft did place some pressure on Bassett for about five minutes, but Oliver blocked three shots protecting Joe′s goal. Then a break though the middle, Sam found Tyler who cracked the ball goal bound, the ball hit the post. Then the icing on the cake, a good pass from Oliver to Tyler and a very good pass to Callum who was strong beating the defender, Callum shoots across the goal keeper beating him, Bassett were now three up with five minutes to go. Croft managed to work the ball to the front but could not convert any attempts into goals. Final score 3-0 to Bassett.

After Saturdays defeat a good comeback with some very good football, well done lads. We only have two games remaining before we move into the 11 aside game.
