Bassett too strong for Purton

Bassett started very well looking strong with confident passing throughout the team. With the pressure on Purton it didn′t take long before Bassett won their first corner which was taken well with some height, Sam managed to put his head on the ball, but pushed the ball wide of the post. Ben was working the ball well down the right beating the Purton defenders at ease on some occasions, then delivering the cross for Sam, Tyler or Callum to pop into the back of the net. The first goal was on its way….

Ben created some space down the right, and then drove for goal, then the cross which found Callum, Callum shoots and finds the back of the net. Bassett take the lead 1-0. Sam was in control of the middle of the park, and at times had all the time in the world to make that goal winning pass. With some good work from Oliver at the back who passed the ball to Sam who found the perfect pass to Tyler who had a shot at goal which was just wide. Sam again finding some space and struck the ball with some power, but it was just over the Purton cross bar. Bassett were playing some very good football now and in total control of the game, the passing was quick and to feet. Bassett won a free-kick, Tyler lined up for the shot. The ball was hit well but saved by the Purton goal keeper, this set the scene going forward. Bassett forwards were all working hard, this lead to the second goal. Bassett had three shots on goal stopped by the goal keeper and his defenders, and then the fourth shot came from Sam who found the back of the net. Bassett two up and half time looming. Purton then came back at Bassett but the defence of Scott and Oliver were strong not making it easy for the Purton forwards. Joe made his first save of the afternoon which was a solid catch which he then kicked pass the half way line. Bassett′s third goal was very well worked, Joe passed the ball to Scott, who passed a long ball to, Callum who took the ball down the left, then the cross which found Tyler who cracked the ball in the back of the net, a perfect gaol. Half time 3-0 to Bassett.

Purton started well in the second half placing some pressure on Bassett, saying that Bassett always had the upper hand on their attacks. The football was end to end with Purton breaking then Bassett counter attacking.

I must say Purton′s goal keeper must have stopped 10-12 of Basset′s shots which were goal bound he had a fantastic game and was a credit to Purton. Also I would suggest that most of the team had a shot on goal at some point through the game.

Bassett′s forth goal was on its way, you could see that unless the Purton goal keeper had something to do with it….. Josh made a good pass to Callum on the left, Bassett were queuing up in the Purton′s goal mouth, the cross found Tyler who sunk his second goal of the day in the back of the Purton′s net. Purton then came back at Bassett forcing Joe to jump up in busy gaol mouth to take the ball cleanly. Then a scary moment as Purton found them self′s mixing it up in Bassett′s goal mouth but Jack and Josh cleared the ball away from Bassett′s goal. At this point Jack was working hard down the left supporting Callum. Then the final goal, Sam drove the ball down the left, finding the space to play the perfect pass which was converted by Josh. Final score 5-0 to Bassett.

A good game to watch with the front players linking well which was supported well by fast accurate passing. Well done lads.
