Win in final home game of the season

Today Croft were our opponents in what was our last home game of the season. Bassett started the game playing into a very strong wind, but despite this still had most of the early play. After only a few minutes Bassett took the lead, some good defending from Martin Bates and Scott Lees resulted in the ball falling to Oliver Lowkis he fed it through to Joshua Bolton who opened the scoring with a good strike. Bassett were looking strong now and although the weather was bad we played some very good football, keeping the ball on the ground and passing it well throughout the whole team. Ten minutes into the game we scored our second, Reuben threw the ball out and we passed it from the back and into midfield, again it was Oliver who played the killer ball to Josh who ran with it from the halfway line and coolly slotted it passed the Croft keeper.

Unfortunately the weather got worse and we decided to abandon the game at half time. This was a real shame as we were playing some good football, Reuben looked confident in goal and started a lot of our best passing moves with his early throws and kicks from goal. Martin and Scott were looking to collect the ball and pass it from the back, with Keir and Oliver always available to receive it. Up front Josh looked sharp again in front of goal and also helped the midfield out on occasions with some good tackling. All in all this was an excellent performance and I'm sure with the wind behind us in the second half we would have gone on to win this match convincingly.
