Under 7's dig deep to win in close game

Today we visited Blunsdon and after three weeks without a match we came into this game a little rusty. Despite this we still managed to grind out a result against the only team to beat us in the league so far this season.

From the kick off both teams had chances but it was Bassett who took the lead. Martin broke up a Blunsdon attack and played the ball to Keir, Blunsdon managed to put the ball out but from the throw in Oliver received the ball and scored with a good shot. Indecision at the back from Bassett led to a Blunsdon equaliser but a couple of minutes later Josh made a run down the right and squared the ball to Oliver who again finished well to make it 1-2 to Bassett at half time. The second half saw Bassett playing the better football and were very unlucky not to increase the lead.

This wasn't the best performance of the season but it was good to see us dig in and scrap for the result. Much of this was down to some great tackling and a high work rate from all the players, in particular Mitchell and Martin both had a good game with Tom putting in a fine display on his return to the first team. It is also good to see Oliver starting to become a regular goal scorer.
