Lady luck was not with Bassett U7's

We visited Wroughton today for what was our second Cross Divisional Game of the season. From the kick off Bassett looked very sharp and before long took the lead. Josh collected a throw in from Scott and hit a powerful shot into the top corner. Wroughton then started to come back and caught us napping with two quick goals, but towards the end of the half Bassett piled on the pressure and were unlucky to go into the break 2-1 down.

In the second half Bassett started with some good forceful play, Reuben's kicks from goal were starting to cause Wroughton real problems and it was from one of these which we scored the equaliser, Josh latched onto the ball deep in Wroughton's half and scored from an acute angle. At this point Bassett should have gone on to win the game but lady luck wasn't on our side, we hit the bar, the post and even had a goal bound shot saved after hitting the Wroughton keeper in the face. So when Wroughton scored towards the end we knew today wasn't going to be our day.

Another really good performance today despite missing a couple of players through illness and although we are lacking that little bit of luck at the moment I'm sure if we keep playing the way we are it will only be a matter of time before we get back to winning ways. No one player can be single out today as everyone was excellent, Reuben did well in goal, Scott and Martin were very solid again at the back, Oli and Keir worked hard in midfield and Josh looked dangerous up front.
