Title hopes on track after another 13 goals against Stratton Youth

Wootton Bassett have kept their title hopes alive with a 13-0 win over Stratton Youth. With two regular first team players missing, it showed how important it is to have a big squad of players to choose from. Gareth Evans, Leigh Little, Martyn Plaistow and Sam Jackson all came close to scoring before in form James Tasker made it 1-0 and 2-0 followed quickly after, scored by Evans after good work by Nicholas Southern and Alfie Passingham. Jackson made it 3-0 running on to a through ball by Passingham to chip the advancing keeper and Passingham was then again involved putting Tasker through to progress the score to 4-0. Wootton Bassett now dominating in all areas of the pitch pushed forward and a strong challenge by Jackson in midfield released Tasker to slide the ball past the keeper, 5-0 and then Jackson went on to score himself by smashing the ball home from a cross by Evans, 6-0. Plaistow scored his first after a move involving James Pringle and Jordan Daley and at half time it was 7-0.

The second half ran much the same as the first when Daley hit the crossbar and then Plaistow scored his second by rounding the keeper and making it 8-0. Dean Ireland replaced Tasker and Jordan Embling replaced Pringle which forced a reshuffle on pitch and all the players adapted to their new positions well. Good movement and passing between Ireland and Plaistow released Evans to make it 9-0 and then Passingham was rewarded for his tireless running to score Bassett's 10th. Ireland and Plaistow continued to have their presence felt and were both unlucky not to score, as was Jackson when he shot wide after a through ball from Southern. Ireland missed a golden opportunity to open his account by missing a simple tap in but Evans pounced on the chance to make it 11-0. The best move of the game then came involving Bartlett, Plaistow, Ireland and Jackson which ended with Passingham slotting a left footed shot home for Bassett's 12th. Jackson again surged forward and from 20 yards shot and hit the top of the crossbar to send the ball over. From the goal kick, Bartlett retrieved the ball and combined with Little and Plaistow to release Evans who went on to score his fourth and complete the scoring.
