Warming 4-1 away win on damp day

On a wet blustery winters morning on a pitch in very poor conditions, the U11's battled to a warming 1-4 away win.

From the kick off Wootton Bassett pushed forward with Craig Mooney and Martyn Plaistow going close and causing the Shrivenham defence problems. On 14 Shrivenham minutes a 20 yard free kick by Sam Jackson was dropped by the keeper and James Tasker, reacting quickest, side footed it home from five yards to make it all 1-0. A midfield of Jackson, Swann, Daley, Tasker & Embling, battling and playing passing football, seemed to dominate the game on a very uneven surface and on Mooney 20 minutes Tasker pushed the ball through for who beat the offside trap and lobbed the advancing keeper from the yard 18 line. Minutes later in Shrivenham's first real attack, a cold Jamie Wakefield was beaten from distance with the Wootton Bassett defence guilty of not closing the player down. Half Time 1-2.

The first five minutes of the second half was all Shrivenham with the three man Bassett defence of Nicholas Southern, Leigh Little and George Bartlett all putting in crunching tackles, keeping the ball away from the Bassett goal. Bassett gradually took control with Mooney, Tasker and Plaistow all going close before Jordan Daley scored with a cracking top 25 yard shot into the right hand corner, midfield 1-3. Graeme Silk replaced the tiring Embling in and James Pringle replaced Little in defenceput . At 55 minutes Tasker was through to run on and slide the ball home and make it Tasker, 1-4. Mooney, Swann, Jackson & Plaistow all went close in the final few minutes.
