Win to warm the hearts on a bitterly cold day

The game started out slowly with attacks from both ends. Wootton Bassett went close on numerous occasions but at half time it was 0-0. The second half started similarly to the first but Bassett eventually got the upper hand and Alfie Passingham beat the keeper to make it 1-0. Minutes later a charge by the boys made way for an opportunity for James Tasker to put it away and make it 2-0. Substitutions were made with Martyn Plaistow replacing Jordan Embling in midfield and immediately scored a goal to make it 3-0, then James Pringle replaced Jordan Daley and David Rayner came on for James Tasker. The play continued to be in the Purton goal mouth and Nicholas Southern was unlucky not to score in the final minutes after a run from the half line when his shot, which was headed for the bottom right hand corner, was deflected and went wide.

Even though this was a bitter cold day, the boys gave everything they could.
