Bassett's cup success came courtesy of a string of impressive performances, culminating in an emphatic 6-1 final victory against Marlborough Youth Raiders.

Their route to the final began with a 4-1 quarter final win against Bradford Town Ravens thanks to goals from Mia Hughes (2), Ava Hall and Sienna Matthews.

That set up a semi final against eventual Division One Champions Tyrone Mings Hurricanes with Bassett coming from behind to win 2-1 courtesy of Hall and Hughes.

Next was the final against Marlborough - who Bassett had beaten in a trio of high scoring, yet closely fought league games. The final would again deliver goals - but Bassett ran out comfortable winners. Hughes hit a hat trick, Hall bagged a brace while Eryn Turnbull completed the scoring

While Tyrone Mings Hurricanes wound up as champions, Bassett finished far ahead of the rest of the field after winning seven straight to finish the season.

Bassett had a middling start to the season. Although winning their league opener 4-3 against Marlborough Youth Raiders, they would have just four points to show from their opening four matches after drawing with Ferndale Rodbourne (0-0) and losing to Durrington Seahawks (0-2) and Tyrone Mings Hurricanes (0-4).

A wild 8-5 win against Marlborough got them back on the winning track and kicked off a strong run.

After a 1-1 draw away at FC Abbey Meads Purple, Bassett beat Ferndale 3-0, Abbey Meads 2-0 and Tyrone Mings 2-1 - the latter being an especially impressive result that put Bassett top at Christmas.

At this stage it was a very close race with Bassett four points ahead of both Tyrone Mings and Durrington who held games in hand.

Bassett started the new year with defeat though, losing 2-0 at home against Tyrone Mings in their final league meeting.

That would prove to be the last time Bassett dropped points though as they went on an outstanding run.

Narrow home wins against Ferndale (3-1) and Marlborough Youth (4-3) got Bassett going before a more convincing 5-1 triumph away at FC Abbey Meads.

Bassett then hosted Durrington in an important match that they won 3-1 to move seven points ahead of their rivals.

A 7-1 thumping of Trowbridge Wanderers Lionesses made it five straight wins before Bassett thrashed Durrington 5-0 away from home and Trowbridge 7-0 on the road to seal a top two finish.

Tyrone Mings still had four games to play and seven points to make - a gap they overcame thanks to being awarded their final three games.
