There were some eye-catching results for Royal Wootton Bassett Town's Youth Section teams on Sunday, with emphatic victories for the Under 15 and Under 18 Yellow teams among the day's highlights.
The biggest win of the day came from Under 15 Yellow, who produced a superb 10-3 victory over Phoenix FC Leopards in North Wilts League Under 15 Division Three. It was an action-packed contest, with Bassett finding the net ten times to secure an impressive three points and make a real statement in the division.
The Under 18 Yellows were also in prolific form, cruising to a 9-0 victory against Kingsdown Lions Blue in Division Three. A dominant performance from start to finish saw Bassett claim all three points in emphatic fashion and make an excellent start to their league campaign.
There was another positive result for the Under 16 Blues, who came through a much tighter contest to beat Marlborough Youth Beagles 2-1 in North Wilts League Under 16 Division Two. Unlike the high-scoring victories elsewhere, this was a hard-fought encounter, with Bassett doing enough to take all three points.
The Under 13 Yellows also enjoyed a winning afternoon, recording a 2-0 home victory over Shrivenham in North Wilts League Under 13 Division Four. A clean sheet combined with two goals ensured a well-earned three points for the side.
It was a tougher afternoon for the Under 13 Blue team, who were beaten 5-2 away at Develop FC Tigers in North Wilts League Under 13 Division Two. They will have the chance to respond next Sunday when Ferndale Rodbourne Fury visit in the Wiltshire FA County Cup.
The Under 12 Blues also suffered defeat, going down 5-2 at home to HS Sports Jaguars in North Wilts League Under 12 Division One. Their attention now turns to next Sunday's Wiltshire FA County Cup tie against Draycott Evolution Fire.
There was another difficult result for thr Under 14 Yellows, who lost 7-1 away to South Cerney in North Wilts League Under 14 Division Three. They will look to bounce back next weekend when they face Wroughton & Wichelstowe Lions in the Wiltshire FA County Cup Plate.
Finally, the Under 12 Yellows were beaten 6-0 at home by Malmesbury Youth Whites in North Wilts League Under 12 Division Six. They will have an opportunity to put the result behind them when they travel to St Andrews Cardinals next weekend for the Wiltshire FA County Cup Plate.
Elsewhere, nine of Bassett's ten sides playing at non competitive age groups got their seasons underway. Playing with enthusiasm, energy and great spirit, the teams produced a number of fantastic performances and some cracking goals - including from the Under 7 Blues in their first ever organised fixture and the Under 9 Yellows.
