Women’s FA Cup second qualifying round draw: Bassett to host Tigresses

Monday 7th September 2026

Royal Wootton Bassett Town have been at home against Gloucester City in the second qualifying round of the Women's FA Cup.

The tie is scheduled to take place at the Swindon Mercedes Stadium (Gerard Buxton Sports Ground) on Sunday 20 September, 2pm kick off.

Bassett have reached the third - and final - qualifying round of the Women's FA Cup for four seasons running, losing at that stage to Torquay United (twice), AFC Stoneham and most recently Forest Green Rovers.

The goal this year in the competition is therefore simple - to get over the hump and make it to the first round proper.

Promotion to tier five does mean that Bassett enter the competition a round later than in each of the past three seasons.

But to achieve their goal they will still have to successfully navigate two games - beginning with a tie that is as tough as it could have been against league rivals Gloucester.

The Tigresses claimed the South West Regional Women's Football League Division One North title two years ago (the season before Bassett) and last season finished fourth in the Premier Division while reaching the first round of the Women's FA Cup where they were beaten by AFC Portchester.

Breaking a run of consecutive exits at the third qualifying round stage, that was Gloucester's third appearance in the first round - and their first since 2013.

Bassett will be seeking to deny them another such appearance this year - and take the first steps towards a place of their own in the competition proper.

Rest assured, it's set to be an enticing tie between two sides who are both on an upwards trajectory.

Make sure to come along and show Bassett your support!

Admission prices are due to be £4 for adults and £2 for concessions (including RWBTFC youth members).
