Weekend preview: Two games in four days - including derby date

Sunday 26th April 2026

Royal Wootton Bassett Town face two South West Regional Women's Football League Division One North fixtures in the space of four days - including a derby date against Cirencester Town on Sunday.

James Lally's side will be looking for at least three points that will take them to the top of the table - with a pair of wins potentially enough to put them on the brink of the title.

Neither game will be easy though.

Bassett and Cirencester drew 1-1 when they met at the Corinium Stadium in January, with the teams also splitting the points in their encounter at the Gerard Buxton Sports Ground last season.

Sunday's fixture takes place at 2pm. Entry is via donation with proceeds raised going to Prospect Hospice in memory of the mother of Cirencester player Phoebe McGouran - a good friend of a number of the Bassett squad.

Prior to that on Thursday Bassett travel to face Stockwood Wanderers (7pm kick off).

Bassett were comfortable 9-0 winners against Stockwood in October. However, Thursday's hosts have turned things around in recent weeks as they fight to extricate themselves from the bottom three. And three of their four league wins this season have come in their last seven games.
