Hit for six

Royal Wootton Bassett Town suffered a heavy 6-0 defeat at the hands of Flackwell Heath as they exited the Perpetua Press Floodlit Cup at the quarter final stage.

Royal Wootton Bassett Town conceded early and often as Flackwell Heath inflicted a heavy 6-0 defeat in their Perpetua Press Floodlit Cup quarter final tie.

While Bassett kept going until the end, they were simply outclassed by a vibrant Flackwell outfit, who are looking to go one better in a competition they finished as runners-up in last season.

It took the hosts just thirty seconds to take the lead as they stole possession from Bassett who had kicked off, and quickly worked the ball into the net through Dean Allen.

For a brief period, Sam Collier's team settled into the game and themselves looked threatening. However, they had the rug pulled out from underneath their feet by Jordan Dowdican, who fired a quickfire brace midway through the first half.

Charlie Samuel added a fourth shortly after the restart. And two goals in a matter of minutes late on from Francis Amartey then completed the rout.
