Wootton Bassett Whites welcome Lydiard Youth to Ballards Ash on a mild, but overcast morning. The skies threaten rain, and there's a hint of thunder in the air but the sun is trying to make an appearance too.

The Whites start the game positively with some good early possession and some neat passing. Zach starts an attack from inside his own half with a well-weighted pass to Zak. Zak continues the run into the corner from where he delivers a great cross to Mo and his shot rattles the Lydiard crossbar. The ball comes back out to Jack who jinks right to make some room and his shot is well saved by the Lydiard keeper in the top right corner.

Zak shows some great individual skill to work down the right again. He passes inside to Mo and the ball pops up and strikes a Lydiard Youth arm and the referee awards Wootton Bassett a penalty. Jordan L steps up but pulls the penalty kick just wide of the left post.

Bassett work the ball around the back and to Zach sitting in bit of space. He delivers a neat through ball to Mo running at pace through the Lydiard defence and he finishes the run with a superb strike past the Lydiard keeper.

Bassett 1 – 0

Harley makes a committed chase back to cover a Lydiard advance and forces the attacker out wide. They win a corner but this comes to nothing. The ball comes back to Jordan L who passes through to Jack who turns and plays in Mo through on the left. Mo works to the edge of the box and shoots across the keeper but it's just wide of the right post.

Jack collects the ball from a Lydiard goal kick and runs straight back at the keeper. His shot is saved well but the ball comes out to Jordan W but his shot is just past the upright.

Jordan L makes a great throw in down the line to Zach who makes a direct run straight at the Lydiard goal. He goes virtually unchallenged into the box but the shot goes into the side netting.

Zach is on the left again and delivers a great ball across the box. Jordan W has 2 defenders in front of him but jinks right to make space and shoots back across under the diving Lydiard keeper to score.

Bassett 2 – 0

Lydiard Youth enjoy a period of pressure and James, Nial, and Harry are kept busy preventing a series of Lydiard attacks. Brad makes a super tackle in midfield and then makes a nicely weighted pass to Zak on the right. Zak continues the run into the box but his is shot is just wide.

Bassett push forward again and Brad gets the ball in the Lydiard box His shot is well saved and the ball falls to Jordan W but the Lydiard keeper makes another great save to deny the Whites their third and brings the half to a close.

At the start of the second half Lydiard attack down the Bassett left. The attacker cuts inside and manages to get his shot off but Ryan makes a fine save to prevent them.

Bassett win a throw on their left and Jordan L makes a great throw to Mo who takes the ball in his stride and passes into the box to Jack, but his shot is just wide of the left post.

Lydiard are trying to push out, to get themselves back into the game. James wins the ball and delivers a neat chip back over the Lydiard defence to Mo who makes a run in on goal again. Mo's shot is deflected out to Zed, racing up on the right, who cracks the ball first-time but it lifts just over the Lydiard crossbar.

James wins the ball in defence and puts Mo through again but again the resulting shot is narrowly wide. The Lydiard keeper clears the ball but only as far as Zed who makes a great pass into the box to Mo again. This time Mo's shot draws another super save from the Lydiard keeper.

Jack and Ross combine well out on the left in a great passing move that sees Mo take the ball just inside the Lydiard half. A nice 1-2 with Jordan W and he's through on goal but brings another great save from the keeper. Brad and Zak link up on the right and Zak crosses into the Jack in the box. Jack's shot is pushed out but only as far as Zak but his shot goes into the side netting.

Bassett win a corner. Zak takes this one and floats one into the heart of the Lydiard box where Jordan W meets it with a cracking volley. The ball is stopped on the line by a Lydiard defender and the ball pops up straight into the keepers welcome arms.

Matt, James , and Brad make a nice switch across the midfield and Brad feeds through to Zed in a bit of space. A quick dummy to lose the defender and there's room for the shot but it's wide left.

Lydiard enjoy a bit of possession and pressure the Whites defence again. Zach makes a great covering tackle to win the ball back and passes to James who delivers a ball over the top of the defenders for Mo to run onto. Mo's beaten the offside trap and manages to beat the keeper to finishing nicely to make it 3 for the whites.

Bassett 3 – 0

Zak collects the ball at halfway and skillfully runs through the Lydiard defenders and slots past the keeper for a great individual goal and Bassett's 4th.

Bassett 4 – 0

Great work on the right from Zed who links up with Zach just inside. A well timed pass sees Jordan W in on the keeper but his shot is going left and Zak races in but just can't quite connect at the far post.

Jordan L delivers a fantastic diagonal ball over the Lydiard defence to Jack on the right of their area. The keeper sees the danger and rushes out so Jack lays off to Jordan W but he is judged just offside. Great move !

Harley wins the ball well and passes to Brad sat just inside of him. Brad passes through to Jack who weaves left and right but just can't make the room for the shot. Now surrounded by Lydiard defenders he manages to pass out to Brad who has come over to support him and Brad fires home for 5 !

Man Of The Match :This weeks award goes to Zak Thompson. Zak played on the wing for the first time as we had more attacking options and did everything that was asked of him, used the ball well and took his chance for his first goal of the season.

Coaches Comments : Brilliant performance by the whole team who communicated well and worked tirelessly as a team and listened to what the coaches asked them to do. We knew the win would come with performances we have had in the first halves of previous games. This will build our confidence for the next game
