Sunday 22nd March 2009 - Wickham Wanderers (A)

On a beautiful day, the conditions appeared perfect for WBTFC dazzling football. However, the firm ground had the ball bobbing around, for both home and away sides. It was difficult to get the ball down, and settle into some simple passing. The away side had the wind and the pace of the slope but were unable to capitalise. Our hope was that the second-half would hold the ball up, enough for us to get a strangle-hold.

Second-half began, and the home side began to use advantage of the slope. A loose ball that wasn't well cleared was pounced upon and fiercely smashed home beyond our helpless keeper. WBTFC knew they had to roll up their sleeves if they wished to salvage a point. Unable to really settle into their usual passing and flowing football, the home side again began to press. We began to look to press forward, and with minutes left we exposed our defence and Wickham exploited and extended their lead, and win the game comfortably
