Sunday 21st December 2008 - Shaw (H)

The swirling wind had the home side penned in from the start of the game. With the visiting side quick passing and tenacious battling, we knew it was to be a hard fought contest. All was equal for majority of the half, with both sides trying to impose themselves on the game. A sudden loose ball, that wasn`t cleared fell to a Shaw player, who hit a low drive through a number of players. Our keeper was unable to keep the shot out.

At half-time, the home side with the wind in second half seemed confident to readdress the balance. This began apparent in the majority of the second half, with WBTFC having most of the possession. However they were not able to capitalize, and find an equalizer. The final minutes saw the home side dig in and scratch for a much needed goal. The Shaw defence remained resilient and kept us at bay. Our attempts were exposed, as we were caught bare at the back, and Shaw extended their lead to 2-0. A well fought game, but obvious disappointment for the lads, who should all hold their heads up high and be proud of their team performance.
