Bassett came up against a strong Clevedon team at a bitterly cold Ballards Ash.
Clevedon put pressure on the Bassett goal from the kick off and went into a two goal lead in the first 10 minutes. Bassett threatened with the occasional breakaway and on one such occasion pressure from Jenna McFadzean led to a Clevedon defender turning the ball past her own keeper.
Clevedon kept up the pressure and only the woodwork stopped Bassett from conceding more. Clevedon scored a further twice in the first half to make the half time score 1-4.
In the second half Bassett worked hard to contain the Clevedon attack but were unable to stop them from scoring another three including a fine headed goal which made the final result 1-7.
It was a brave fighting display by the girls against one of the top teams in the league.
