Missing players see Bassett downed by the Spitfires

The U14 girls, without several of their regular players, lost 1-6 to a Swindon Spitfires team that they had looked capable of beating in the first half.

The match started well for Bassett as Jenna MacFadzean scored one of her trademark goals in the fourth minute, when she outpaced the Spitfires defence to fire past the goalkeeper. Spitfires came back strongly, however, and grabbed the equaliser just before half time with a fine header from a corner kick.

At the start of the second half Spitfires went in to the lead and soon after they made it 1-3. The girls kept battling but there was a rush of goals at the end of the match as Spitfires scored three goals in the last five minutes to make the final score Wootton Bassett 1 Swindon Spitfires 6.
