First win of the season for U14 Girls

The Under 14 Girls recorded their first win of the season with a convincing 6-2 victory over Swindon Town 'B'. On a heavy pitch at Colebrook School Bassett started well and soon had the home team under pressure. Gemma French threatened the Swindon goal early on and she opened the scoring after 10 minutes. Against the run of play Swindon equalised 5 minutes later, however, the lead was restored in 20 minutes when Hannah Butler received a through ball from Amy Aitken and she tucked the ball past the advancing keeper. Soon after Amy Aitken increased the lead with a long range effort, before Swindon pulled another goal back in the 28th minute. Right on the stroke of half time Gemma French raced down the right and fired a shot in from an acute angle to make the half-time score 4-2 in favour of Bassett.

In the second half Amy Aitken replaced Georgina Viveash in goal as Swindon pressed to get back into the game. Kelly Blanchard made some important interventions and Gwennie Hopkins cleared off the line as the home team pressed forward. In the 45th minute Rebecca Munton strode up from the back to increase the Bassett lead to 3 goals and five minutes later she put the result beyond doubt with an angled shot.
