Winning run continues against Lacock

The same eleven [as played against Calne Reserves] met Lacock on Tuesday evening in the last home fixture. The game opened at a fast pace, and for fully 25 minutes there was little to choose between the sides. Chequers was then brought down in the penalty area, and the Town obtained the lead. In the next minute Chequers centred after a fine run, and Roles tapped the ball into the net from amongst a crowd of players. Lacock set up an attack just before the interval, and Hunt had the misfortune to turn the ball into his own goal.

The second half found the visitors pressing, but the Town defence was sound, and after 15 minutes Roles, their clever centre forward, scored two fine goals in quick succession. Chequers, who had been off injured earlier in the game, completed the scoring. Wootton Bassett did well to win by 5 goals to 1, for during two spells they had but ten men owing to injuries. Tomorrow the Town complete their fixtures with a visit to Calne Reserves, and the following have been chosen: H W. Boulter; W. G. Hunt and E. Fry: J. Norris, A. S. Beale and H. Morris, S. W. Chequers, W. Ogbourne, C. Roles, F. Wilkins and W. Sandell. Reserve A. Compton.
