Narrow defeat for Bassett against title favourites

Wintry conditions prevailed on Saturday when the Town entertained Kington Langley in the Calne & District League. In the first half the visitors had the advantage of a strong wind, and pressed heavily, but the home goalkeeper refused to be beaten.

In the second half the visitors were just a little the better side, their teamwork being better. After 15 minutes' play Hillier sent in a hard shot, and Hunt had the misfortune to turn the ball into his own goal. This gave the victory to Kington Langley. The firstt eleven will visit Avebury tomorrow in the Calne & District League fixture, and the following have been chosen: - W. Lawrence: W. G. Hunt and H. Clarke: G. Cliffford, J. Norris and A. Compton; A. S. Beale, W Ogbourne, C. Roles, H. Morris and W. Sandell. Reserves - L. W. Chequers, E. Flewelling and H. Angelinetta.
