The Town senior eleven suffered their first defeat of the season on Saturday in the first round of the Cazalet Cup Competition, Purton Reserves beating them by 5 goals to 2. The home team commenced in promising fashion, and secured lead of two goals in the first ten minutes through Sandell and Clark, the latter taking a penalty kick after Bunce had handled. Staley reduced the arrears with a shot from close range, and before half-time Price had scored twice and Bunce with a long shot had also beaten the home goalkeeper. The second half saw both teams missing chances but before the end Price added a fifth for Purton. It was a very clean game.
