After their continuing success in the league, Bassett approached this fixture against unknown opposition a little warily, but it must have been quickly clear to Trowbridge Town that they had been drawn against a quality team brimming with confidence. From the off, there was pressure on the Trowbridge box with two early corners - the second of which led to a splendid strike from Euan as he collected the ball on the edge of the D and slammed it high into the net to open the scoring : 1- 0

Jamie fashioned a couple of further chances and Charlie busied himself in and around the box before yet another corner was won and a splendid cross from Callum found an eager head in the shape of Euan who grabbed a second towards his perfect hat-trick to double the Bassett lead : 2 - 0

There were some Trowbridge attacks, but their neat passing found little reward as they came up a against Ed, Luke,Josh and Ben in imperious form - Conor was called into one significant save but quickly began to become a spectator as wave after wave of Bassett attacks developed. George started to make some telling runs down the right and, after putting in a corner that Euan nearly converted, he then floated over a dangerous cross which a defender desperately headed onto the bar only to see it land at the feet of Lewis C who made no mistake to seize our third goal of the day: 3 - 0

Bassett by now were in complete control and started to slip the ball between each other beautifully - Callum launched a screamer which narrowly missed to the right before Josh took a powerful shot of his own as he arrived to join the attack which briefly skimmed the head of a defender before rocketing into the roof of the net: 4- 0 Euan's perfect hat-trick was completed before the break when he followed up some superb midfield play with another cannon-ball from way out that a despairing keeper could only watch sail over his head: 5-0 Half-time: 5 - 0

The game seemed to lose a bit of momentum at the start of the second half with Trowbridge trying to claw their way back and Bassett seemingly content to play their football without really testing their opponents too much. Luke caught the eye as he began to edge further forward at every opportunity and Jamie broke up the Trowbridge game in midfield finding space to pass and move with great skill. Chances did come but Dec and George were both guilty of skying shots over the bar before Charlie brought matters down to earth and scored a lovely individual goal by dribbling through a bevy of players before sliding in his first of the match to take it to 6-0.

Trowbridge hearts were now broken and Bassett looked like scoring with every attack - they promptly did this again when the goalie spilled a Dec shot to Jamie who did brilliantly to redirect his shot past him for yet another Bassett goal : 7 - 0 The final Bassett goal was yet another beauty as Tom, who had been causing problems for our visitors all afternoon, fought for the ball down the right and put in a slide-rule pass through to Charlie who made no mistake as a he slammed it in for his sixth goal of the season: 8 - 0

Final score: 8 - 0 Man of the match: Euan Burke - A perfect hat-trick was due reward for an all action performance from Euan today. He totally bossed the midfield, making some delightful passes to go alongside three different goals, all of them excellent.

Coach's comments: Another excellent performance from all 13 players against a Trowbridge team that never stopped trying & we had to work hard to break through their defence.The boys were patient in their approach & whilst it was hard to keep our shape at times due to the pattern of the match we succeeded more often than not.Once again WELL DONE boys on a good team performance which was a pleasure to watch.
