Bassett's second match of the 2012/13 season was another home fixture at a Ballards Ash ground exposed to the elements. Luckily for the supporters the standard of football displayed out on the pitch was enough to warm coldest of hands and keep the minds firmly focused on the game and not the cold.

In the first few minutes of the game, both sides struggled to find their shape and retain the ball. The majority Bassett's play was coming down the right hand side of the pitch, with Ben and Tom combining well and exploiting the space. Unfortunately for Bassett, no forward could get on the end of Tom's crosses that were flying into the box.

On 10 minutes Bassett had their first attack down the left, Callum's cross was met by Charlie at the back post, the ball then went to-and-throu' across the 6 yard box until eventually Euan's had the opportunity to shoot but the ball went narrowly wide.

It wasn't until 17 minutes until Pewsey got their first chance on goal. A looping ball into the box went beyond the last defender, but brave goal keeping by Conor averted the danger, who took a foot in the face for his endeavours. To prove there was no damage, Conor made a smart save when Pewsey next attacked a minute later.

As the half went on, Bassett were in complete dominance of the game though just couldn't create the goal scoring opportunity. On 26 minutes, a well delivered free kick by Luke was headed narrowly over the bar by Euan. Bassett almost took the lead on the stroke of half time when a Euan corner was headed goal wards by Jamie, the ball being cleared of the line by the Pewsey defender. Half-time: 0-0

Bassett couldn't find the back of the Pewsey net in the first 35 minutes of this game, but it took only 3 minutes of the second half before they went in front. Euan took a corner from the left and it was cleared at the front post back out him. Euan's cross was then delivered to the back post where a glancing header from Declan gave Bassett the lead.

Pewsey nearly drew level 5 minutes later when a free kick from the left, flew over everyone and luckily drifted wide of the right hand post. Bassett extended their lead on 44 minutes when Lewis W cleared the ball out wide to Tom. Tom's cross fell at the feet of Jamie, whose low shoot from the edge of the area beat the diving Pewsey keeper.

The Bassett lead was extended moments later when Euan picked up a lose ball 20 yards out and fired home off the underside of the cross bar. Bassett were now in complete dominance and the game was being played in the Pewsey half. Pushed into midfield, Josh wouldn't let the Pewsey defenders settle and clear the ball. A ricochet went out left to Callum who cut the ball back inside. Lewis W pushed a short pass forward where a first time lay off from Charlie presented the ball back at Josh's feet who casually side footed past the keeper to make it four-nil Bassett.

As the game entered its last 5 minutes, Ed passed to George who slotted the ball through to Lewis C. Lewis stroked the ball onto Tom, who knocked the ball past the advancing keeper with consummate ease.

A minute later it looked like it would be six when Josh almost made it a brace but the outstretched head of the Pewsey defender cleared his effort over the bar. Moments after this Lewis and Lewis combined to give Luke a shooting chance, the shot unfortunately dragged narrowly wide of the upright.

It was into added time when Bassett finally knocked Pewsey for six, Lewis W crossed, a knock down by Charlie and a fine finish from Lewis C finished this game in a manner that it deserved. Full-time: 6-0

Coach's Match Analysis: Another emphatic team performance where the only question was how long it was going to be before our dominance was converted to goals. So many times a team with so much play gets caught with a breakaway goal but the lads looked solid all over the pitch and deserved a final score line that didn't flatter them. Well done boys.

Player of the Match: Commanding at the back and impressive use of the bal when going forward, today's POTM award goes to Luke Weekes.

Team: Conor Chivers, Edward Fish (Capt), Luke Weekes, Ben Croydon, Josh Curtis, Lewis Ward, Callum Bridges, George Staten, Euan Burke, Jamie Byron, Tom Miller, Lewis Chilod, Declan Cox, Charlie Emmerson
