Bassett return to winning ways against Keynsham Town

Wootton Bassett Ladies got back to winning ways this week by beating close rivals Keynsham Town Ladies Res. by 4 – 3 in a another close encounter in the Wiltshire County Women's Football League. On the back of two straight defeats by Swindon Town Ladies in both the League and Cup Bassett started this match brightly working hard from the start with Natasha Burson opening the scoring after just 3 minutes in a move that saw Rebecca Poole cross the ball in from the left which Catherine Reid flicked on with her head to set Burson through to finish well past the diving keeper. Bassett extended their lead after 7 mins when Reid shot from outside the area over the keeper and finishing up in the top right hand corner of the net.

Keynsham then replied when Jodi Steenaart in goal for Bassett came out quickly to beat the advancing Keynsham forward to the ball only to see her clearance rebound off one of her own players back over her head for the most simple of finishes for Keynsham.

Bassett restored the 2 goal lead when Kirsty Hulse rounded the keeper and finished well from an acute angle with her left foot, Keynsham however hit back from the kick off and scored their second of the game just before halftime.

In the second half Bassett continued to press hard with shots going close from Reid, Becky Poole and Sarah Tyas. Their efforts paid off when Hulse powered past keynsham's last defender to finish well under pressure. Keynsham got another goal back But Bassett ran out comfortable winners forcing corner after corner without reply.
