Bassett held by Spitfires

This game proved to be the classic game of two halves with the home side Bassett dominating the first half with goals from Catherine Reid and Kirsty Hulse on another wet and windy afternoon at Ballards Ash. After missing several chances from their early pressure Bassett took the lead after a slick move down the right culminating in a fine goal from Reid. Spitfires however shocked the home side when against the run of play they scored when Bassett failed to clear a ball from a corner which resulted when Jodi Steenaart made a fine save diving to her right to force the ball wide of her post when the ball was heading for the back of then net. Bassett however continued to pressure and the hardworking Hulse finished off a move down the left with an individual goal.

The second half however Bassett did not start well and Spitfires equalised after which they looked the stronger team and Bassett started to look tired and disjointed in the heavy conditions. However as the match drew to a close Bassett found an extra gear and began to pressure a again after going behind for the first time in the game and in the dying minute Tash Burson earned the home side a draw with a fine strike, after which their was only just time to restart the game. Bassett's Next game is away to league leaders Chippenham Town.
